Pioneer Magnetics introduces a new breed of High Efficiency High Voltage PFC Models that provide full output power with Single or Three Phase AC Input. Designed to support both stand alone and parallel configurations, these models are configured in standard Non-Plug and Hot Plug I/O interfaces. The Premium Quality front ends are rugged, reliable, designed for high performance and come in the traditional 5” x 5” package. With power density up to 25.8watts/in3 , these units are featured with internal forced air-cooling and built-in protection from electrical overloads. A single module provides continuous full power over operating temperatures of 0°C to +50°C, from a Single or Three Phase AC Input line.

PLC connection belongs to the single point connection method for low-voltage electrical equipment. The single point connection methods for low-voltage electrical equipment can be divided into series single point connection, parallel single point connection, and multi branch single point connection. Series single point connection: that is, the first connection method.

Connection method: Connect multiple low-voltage electrical equipment terminals to the same wiring nearby, and then connect this wiring to the grounding device. The benefits of this connection method are: saving manpower and material resources; The downside: When there is a circuit break in the public wiring, if one device in the grounding system leaks electricity, it will cause voltage to appear on the shells of other devices, posing a threat to personnel safety. Each backup terminal leads out a wire, and then connects these several wires to the grounding device simultaneously. The advantage of this connection method is that when there is an open circuit in the wiring of one of the equipment in the system, it will not cause voltage to appear on the casing of other equipment, which is beneficial for ensuring personal safety.

The imperfect aspect of this connection method is that electronic devices or other highly sensitive electrical devices to high-frequency interference, and high-frequency interference from other devices (such as frequency converters, intermediate frequency furnaces, and other thyristor converter devices) will be connected from the common point, causing the equipment to work abnormally. Multi branch single point connection: This is the third connection method. Connection method: Connect each equipment terminal separately to the connection device. The difference between the connection method and the second connection method is that the device has a separate connection body (alternatively, it is directly connected to the device closest to the connection body (at the connection source), and the distance between each device’s electrical connection circuit is relatively long (such as over 50 meters).

This effectively avoids mutual electromagnetic interference between devices. But this connection method is time-consuming and labor-intensive, and it may not be easy to obtain a single source. In normal construction, the second method is usually used for PLC connection. As for electromagnetic interference, if there are multiple high-power frequency converters in the cabinet, a single-phase power filter can be installed at the front end of the PLC power supply. In general, a power filter is installed at the front end of the PLC near the frequency converter during design. After this treatment, there will be no conflict with lightning protection.

How to deal with the problem of DC and AC connection?

It is better to separate them and connect them to the same point. Can digital and analog devices be the same point? When I was in school, the teacher seemed to say that we need to separate DC and AC devices that are not affected by interference, but can be connected together – if the DC and AC circuits are connected for some reason, they are in the same circuit (connected to a part of the circuit), which can cause equipment damage. Someone once connected the AC220V power supply to the DC24V circuit, but the equipment still works normally. It is recommended to separate digital and analog circuits (the power supply voltage of your low-voltage electrical equipment is several tens of volts). Digital circuits belong to the positive and negative 5V, 12V, and 24V levels, which are easily interfered with. Once an external abnormal voltage is connected in series, it is highly likely to cause equipment damage.
